Probably Kowloon. Kwun Tong and Lai Chi Kok. They are near residential, but in the industrial areas, which are cheaper. The flats are not beautiful, but they are OK.
But not on Hong Kong Island. The living areas are smaller. There are lockers, but smaller and more expensive. Location trumps price. But nobody likes the rent.
New Territories is a revelation. It’s cheaper, and bigger, often much bigger. It comes with distance. A trip if not a trip. But good for storage.
In 2016 it’s all standard. Aircon, fob, alarm, standard. So it’s not what they have. It’s their maintenance.
Some are brand new or recently renovated. Some are like cruise control. It’s the lights and cleanliness and doors. You can’t see it but you can feel it.
Or new facilities. They have happy hours. Leasing, discounts, offers. Older facilities focus on branding. Not necessarily bad, but a focus.
What mini storage is best in “such and such” area? It depends what you do. If you will use it, it is location. If you are going to use it occasionally, price.
What I’ve learned about backing up data: the second option is usually better. You want location, and more of it.
